A Conversation with Tunde Oyeneyin
“Choose to live a life in purpose, on purpose, of purpose… and SPEAK.”
On May 5th, 2022, I had the opportunity to have an impromptu conversation with Tunde Oyeneyin, a renowned artist, Peloton instructor, makeup artist, and incredibly influential person in my life. Watch the video to see our conversation and continue reading to see the lessons I’ve learned leading up to and after that moment.
As I write this, I’m still processing last night’s encounter with Tunde, and at the same time, I knew it would happen. Her new book SPEAK was released this week, I listened to the entire thing, wrote down my notes of what I would say to her if I had the chance to have a conversation - and last night I was given the opportunity.
Here are the 4 Lessons I learned from last night:
STAY READY | I had a feeling I was going to be called up (though the chances were slim to none) and mentally prepared what I would say if given the chance.
BELIEVE BIGGER | Before the event, I had a dream/thought that I would tell her about Spiked Spin and have a chance to talk with her about my fitness journey and I did just that! The next step is to get her out to a class 😉
PEOPLE ARE WATCHING | This morning I got emotional as I woke up Charlie and just hugged her. She will witness her mama do the dang thing!
GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION | I give myself permission to surrender and release the feelings of guilt, shame, and selfishness you feel. Whether it was during a time you didn’t have control or know better, or if it was this morning! PERMISSION is granted!
What an experience! Tunde outdid herself and I can’t wait to give my riders what she’s given me on and off the bike.
